Professor of Musicology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Research interests: The musical heritage of the Karaite Jews in Israel. History of the music of the Yishuv (1880-1948). Music in migrant and refugee societies. Origins of the early classical concerto. The music of the late fourteenth century in France. Currently engaged in the publication of an anthology of the liturgy of the Karaites in Israel and the United States.

Theodore Holdheim - Biography
Born in Berlin, Germany, and immigrated to Palestine in 1933, settling in Kibbutz Bet-Alfa. Studied music in Israel and in the U.S., and continued to study science in Israel. Was very active as an educator in Israel in the fields of music and science. His compositional style was based on writing communicative and easily-accessible music. He has written music for Kibbutz events. His other works include operas, cantatas, works for orchestra, choir, theater and chamber music.
