Jozef Koffler - Biography
Born in Stryj and studied music in Lvov (1914-1916) and in Vienna (1918-1924). From 1928, worked in Lvov as a teacher, and under the Soviet occupation was promoted to management positions in several music institutions. Died during the holocaust in an unknown time and place. His style was influenced by the avant-garde, but under Soviet pressure, he turned to more mainstream composition.

Maier Kohn - Biography
Born in Schwabach, Bavaria (today Germany). Worked as a cantor and as an educator in Munich. His book, Vollstaendiger Jahrgang von Terzett-und Chorgesaengen der Synagoge in Muenchen, is considered the first modern collection of synagogue melodies. It includes his own compositions, as well as compositions by others.

Iraqi composer and violinist, Salah El Kuweiti was born in Kuwait, and taken to Iraq when he was 17. He played violin, sang, composed, and achieved great musical fame in Iraq together with his brother, Daoud, who played the 'ud.
