Marlena Fuerstman

Before beginning her studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 1999, she had an extensive performing career bringing opera and musical theatre to more than a million adults and children throughout the eastern United States performing a variety of roles, and guest appearances as soloist with the Charleston, Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Harrisburg Sympho-nies, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.

In 2004, received investiture as hazzan from JTSA and has thereafter been on the faculty of the JTSA Jerusalem cantorial program.

In 2002- 2013 served as spiritual leader of Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation.

In 1993, she received international attention with a profile of her life and work on the popular CBS network program, “60 Minutes.” She was featured in 2005 in the Hallmark Network’s national show, “Sewing Seeds” Passover segment.
