Many of the Lubavich "yearning" niggunim, including this one, belong to the category of ''Volekh" tunes, so called for the Rumanian region of Wallachia. They are characterized by a rhapsodic rhythm, with recitative elements and melismas. At the same time, most of them have a relatively fast rhythmic section, thus recalling the doina-hora combination of the klezmer repertoire (see Zalmanoff, vol. 1, nos. 131-138; ibid., vol. 2, nos. 203- 204; ibid., vol. 3, nos. 302-310). The structure of the niggun is A-B-C-D-C. The first two sections are rhythmically free, while sections C-D-C, i.e., the second part of the niggun, are in 4/4 time. This niggun was published by Zalmanoff (vol. 2, no. 203) and in the "Nichoach" recordings (record no. 7, side 1, track 2), with only slight changes.
