Mizmor L'David (Casale Monferrato)

This melody, sung in the Friday Evening Service on special Sabbaths, in the Ashkenazi tradition of Casale Monferrato is a variant of an early 19th century composition by Michele Bolaffi (1768-1842) from the Sephardi synagogue of Livorno, preserved in a manuscript. Some of Bolaffi's liturgical works were also found in manuscripts at the Casale community. This melody, still sung in many Italian synagogues, has spread throughout Jewish congregations around the world.
