Since Kurdistan never became an independant state and due to the lack of communication and accessibility between the various areas, distinct isolated communties evolved retaining ancient musical styles. Research of the music of Kurdish Jews would describe the disticnt musical tradition of each of the Kurdish local communities, analyze the musical genres and discuss the influence of the multi-lingual vernaculars on the musical style. This article deals with the Kurdish Jews in Iraq from these aspects.
