Niggun from Poltava

Soloists: Baruch Brenner, voice; Andre Hajdu, piano

Rabbi Zalmanov writes about this niggun: "Rabbi Jacob Mordecai Betspalov, rabbi of the town of poltava and one of the most faithful followers of the Admorim Moharash [Rabbi Shmuel Schneersohn, 1834-1882], and Moharashb [Rabbi Shlomo Dovber Schneersohn, 1860-1920], used to pray with devequt (rapture) with this niggun full of feeling and trembling of the soul!"

Our way of performing this piece aims to express the idea that singing can be prayer in itself, especially when somebody sings for himself.
